Wadsworths Solicitors raise £1,100 for Carers Trust Solihull

Carers Trust Solihull were thrilled to receive a cheque recently for £1100 from Wadsworths Solicitors.

The legal firm, based in Shirley, donated £20 for every new conveyancing matter, the legal side of buying or selling a property, opened during the month of February.
Carers Trust Solihull are a charity that provides free help and support for unpaid carers of all ages providing help, guidance, training and social activities within Solihull and surrounding areas.

Chief Executive Officer Brandon Scott-Omenka said: “The support from our local community has always been important to Carer’s Trust Solihull and we are so appreciative of the very generous donation we have received from Wadsworths Solicitors.”

Birmingham Post Shortlist Wadsworths Solicitors for Top Business Award

Wadsworths solicitors have reached the finals of the Birmingham Post Business Awards 2018 after being nominated in the category of “Outstanding Contribution to the Community”. The annual awards aim to celebrate success, recognise achievement and highlight the innovative people and companies in Birmingham who are putting the region on the map by boosting the economy while making a positive contribution to the local community.

New Additions to the Wadsworths Team

Wadsworths Solicitors added another two members to its outstanding team this week, recruiting staff for two growing departments.

Suraiya Isaac has joined as a solicitor and Head of Commercial Litigation and Harriet Muffett as a paralegal in the Commercial Property Department.

Suraiya graduated from the University of Warwick with an honours degree in law and completed her Law Society Finals (now LPC) at the College of Law in 1991. She trained with Edge and Ellison in London and Birmingham. On qualification she worked with Hammond Suddards. Both firms have since merged into Squire Patton Boggs. As a result, Suraiya gained the highest quality of training and work experience with some of the world’s leading lawyers. Suraiya went on to work with Harrison Clark (now Rickerbys). Suraiya has worked with both plc’s and owner managed companies . She is renowned for providing pragmatic solution orientated legal advice all encompassed with a high level of client care.

She said: “Wadsworths are an established firm in Solihull with an excellent reputation for client care and serving their local community which mirror my own core values. Wadsworths are perfectly positioned for growth in the commercial client arena and I am looking forward to advising existing and new clients and I am excited to be joining a competent and entrepreneurial team to contribute to this growth.

Harriet Muffett will be working alongside Chris Dingley, Head of Commercial Property as the department continues to get busier following its formation in early 2017.

Vital funds raised for Breast Cancer Haven

Wadsworths Solicitors have provided a breast cancer charity with a boost – by donating money raised from their Will writing service.

The firm donated £5 from each Will written during November to Shirley-based Breast Cancer Haven.

Their efforts amounted to a total of £355.

Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands opened in October 2017 to provide support for the 2,500 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year within 35 miles of the new centre. Breast Cancer Haven supports women through their breast cancer treatment by providing emotional, physical and practical help.

Michael Wadsworth, head of the Wadsworths’ Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney Department, said: “Wadsworths Solicitors are delighted and proud to have been involved in fundraising for the new Breast Cancer Haven centre in Solihull, West Midlands. 

“We pride ourselves on taking an active part in our local community and are therefore thrilled to be supporting such a vibrant and much needed support centre for local people going through breast cancer treatment. 

“We plan to continue working closely with Breast Cancer Haven by raising funds and assisting in any way we can in the future.”
