BLOG: Writing Your Will – Simple, Friendly, Fixed-Fee

For many people, writing a Will feels like one of those things you know you should do… but keep putting off. It can sound daunting, overly formal, or just a bit uncomfortable.

At Wadsworths, we do things differently. Writing your Will with us is straightforward, friendly, and handled at a pace that suits you.

Here’s what you can expect.

Step 1: Come in, have a chat

Your Will journey starts with a visit to one of our offices, where you’ll meet one of our approachable and experienced legal team. This isn’t an interrogation or a lecture – it’s a relaxed conversation.

We’ll ask about your circumstances, such as:

  • Your family and loved ones
  • Any property, savings or assets
  • Who you’d like to benefit from your Will
  • Any specific wishes you may have

We’ll explain everything clearly, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.

Payment is made during this appointment, and it’s a fixed fee, so there are no surprises later on.

Step 2: We draft your Will

After your appointment, your solicitor will carefully draft your Will based on everything you’ve discussed.

Once it’s ready, we’ll post a copy out to you so you can read through it in your own time – no pressure, no rush.

Step 3: Review and refine

You then check through your draft Will and let us know if you’d like any changes. Amendments are very common, and that’s absolutely fine.

If needed, we can talk things through again to make sure the wording reflects exactly what you want.

Step 4: Sign and finalise

Once you’re happy, we’ll arrange another appointment for you to come back in and formally sign your Will. We’ll guide you through the signing process so everything is done correctly and legally.

Step 5: Safe storage and peace of mind

After signing:

  • You’ll receive a copy of your Will to take home
  • We’ll store the original securely in our Wills safe

That way, it’s protected, easy to locate, and safely looked after – one less thing for you (or your loved ones) to worry about.

Writing a Will doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating. With Wadsworths, it’s simply a friendly conversation, clear advice, and the reassurance that your wishes are properly documented and protected.

If you’d like to book an appointment or have a chat about getting started, we’re always happy to help.
