Following on from the success of the Big Hoot 2015 Art Exhibition, the owls were sold off in the Big Hoot Auction 2015 in order to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
We were lucky enough to purchase the Saltley Stories Owl which was the owl that was unfortunately vandalised during the exhibition last year. Now having been restored, we have been taking Saltley Stories on a tour of local schools and the owl has also had a long stay at The Core Theatre in Solihull as part of the latest Art Exhibition, The Big Read 2016.
John Wadsworth stated “We wanted to get ‘Saltley Stores’ due to his very positive message – he is decorated with the words ‘peace’ and ‘love’ and features images of Birmingham’s industrial heritage. He also features sacred geometric patterns and words in a variety of difference languages. The fact that he had unfortunately been subject to vandalism while on display only made his need for a new home greater.”
Saltley Stories is now back at our offices in Shirley having a well-deserved break. If you would like any further information regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us or even visit our offices to see Saltley for yourself. We have been delighted at the huge interest in the owl and are very proud to own a bit of Birmingham history.
